COMING OUT WHILE BELTING OUT
By Sherri Ontop

While the much anticipated Fairy Trial’s Anniversary is still underway, with amazing acts done by the shows Royals and Heroes, none stood out quite as much as Rei Hino of Flowers Over Bones kissing her hero on live television. While this may be common place, playing up the "True Love’s Kiss" trope of a fairy tale, the thing that makes this unique was that Rei Hino’s hero was a woman!

[Pictured are several shots of Minako and Rei sharing an incredibly steamy kiss.]

While some may offer that it could still be playing up the trope, it is nonetheless a very big step of support for the LGBTQA community everywhere! Whether Rei Hino intended it or not, whether she even cares or not, individuals who may be gay or bisexual or even just different can look at this and feel assured that they do not have to prescribe to any one thing except what feels true to themselves.

After all, Rei Hino has always been a very calm and collected individual, exuding grace on stage and a gentle presence off of it. But at Fairy Trials, she showed real raw passion as she sang alongside her hero and truly sent a spark of fire to all.

While some have condemned the act as a decay of our society and moral values, we at Vista Women’s Health Magazine and this journalist in particular see absolutely nothing wrong with any couple of any gender, binary or otherwise, expressing their love for another person. The kiss was by no means tasteless or trashy, even now, Rei Hino continued to show considerable poise and grace while showing us her incredible passion on stage!

As for Rei’s hero in question? Diana Artemesa, a waitress at Brad’s Diner and who showed quite a bit of physical prowess and singing ability during the show. Her singing was stunning and worked in perfect harmony with Rei’s. Was this, in her own way, an audition for Vista or Pride Record Labels? It’s clear the passion between the two and the passion she has for singing! Time can only tell if we’ll be hearing records from Diana Artemesa soon.

Whether the whole thing was staged, or Rei Hino has come forward regarding her own sexuality, we wish both Rei Hino and Diana Artemesa the very best in their endeavors, wherever and whatever that may be.
