RECAP: The Double S Charity Concert
By Cher D. Love

In these glamorous, fast-paced and pleasure-oriented times, it's always a pleasant surprise when we get to see celebrities giving back to not only their fans, but the community in general. January 24th saw a large portion of the music industry do just this. A concert for Double S Charity was organized by Jenny Dawin and held in Archer Park in Vista City. The turn out was great, and rumor has it plenty of money was raised at the stalls for multiple causes, as well. There were performances on stage all throughout the day by such popular musicians as Tamara Seward of Crown of Thorns, who wrote a song for fellow Pride label musician Lucifer of Junkyard Carnival. She was also dressed in a stunning white ensemble in honor of Lucifer. Many of the musicians took this approach with their performances dedicated to their fellow music business associates, dressed in certain outfits to pay homage.

But not all the songs performed were written with honor and respect in mind, which came as a shock to plenty concert-goers who were expecting kindness from every corner due to the nature of it being a charity event. Yet, surprisingly, one such song performed by Artolo Apemis of Crown of Thorns, a cruel jab at as musician from his opposing label: Bai Shen of Virgo Entertainment's Vandalism in Progress, still managed to be popular enough with listeners and viewers to gain Pride's goth band's drummer third prize! Word from bystanders who wish to remain anonymous say it also landed him in a fight with some of Shen's band mates after the performance.

Second place winner decided by popular online vote was Flowers Over Bones' own Ivan Karelin, who wrote and performed a lovely piece for Miss Tamara Seward of Crown of Thorns. It was a much kinder tribute than the third place winner's, and characteristic of what the music industry has come to know and love about the shamisen player. Not only was the performance a favorite to watch, the song itself proved very moving, and Ivan was a thematic prince in traditional kimono robes and kabuki make-up.

First place winner and over-all favorite of the concert was Pride Records' sweetheart Trucy Wright of System Crash! This didn't come as a huge surprise to the writers and editors here at M! Monthly, as she's known and loved around the offices here as a crowd-pleaser and a delight to watch when attending System Crash concerts with our kids. She sparkled and shined as expected, giving a visually stunning performance of an appropriate and silly song dedicated to Greg Universe of rival label Virgo's Defying Atmosphere, playing on the tabloid rumors of lycanthropy.

Not only was the concert and general event a complete success for charity, plenty of readers and informants have told us it was a total blast to attend! So give thanks if you haven't yet to Double S Charity's Jenny Dawin, and send letters to those record labels, and maybe we'll get to see more heart-warming and charitable tributes from the music industry in the near future.
