Neither do we. We have magic scrolls, or we can write letters, but that's about it.

We have cell phones, but they're bigger and you can't really wear them like this. Mine does a lot of fancy stuff but that's just because my friend who's a scientist upgraded it.

What's a cell phone?

They let you talk to anybody else who has one, no matter how far away they are. You can text too. Some of them can send video like this but it doesn't usually work as well as these do.

I still have mine from home! I can show it to you sometime! It can't call anybody here but all my stuff is in it.

Oh, that was the thing you showed me earlier, right? Holdin' yer picture? Ah sure would like t'see more of what it does, even if y'can't contact anypo-- anybody.

Yeah! That was it! They can all hold pictures, but I never showed you the boxes. You can stick stuff like food in there and it holds it somewhere until you need it again.

It used to turn into a jetpack too, but I never put more fuel in it. It only lasted for a minute so it wasn't that great.

Wow! That sounds incredible! Imagine, bein' able to carry food on such a small device. Ah've never heard of anything like that!

It's pretty cool! Alphys made it, she's really smart. She was the yellow lizard monster I showed you in the picture.

[AJ nods to show that she remembers. she can really tell how proud Frisk is of her friends, even in text] Sounds like you've got a really great bunch of friends.

Yeah, they're all really cool. Sans and my mom were the first monsters that ever made friends with me.

[deciderly]

[so they are important to Frisk] An' they were the ones taken, right?

[determinate]

Yeah. Sans is still a musician, but my mom's not. Silver says they're probably keeping all the old musicians somewhere just in case they want them again.

[deciderly]

[huh. AJ didn't know that. she files that bit of information away for later use] This is all so crazy, ponynapping, turning everyone into musicians fer energy. Ah just don't get it.

I don't either. I know music magic exists, but they've already got enough of their own to do all of this. Why do they even need more?

[deciderly]

[AJ shrugs, which is a surprisingly good shrug for a pony] S'ppose it doesn't matter why... All we gotta do is focus on finding them.

[determinate]

It'll be a lot easier if we can figure out how they think and what they want and all that. We'll have to meet them someday.

[deciderly]

Hey, yeah. Yer probably right. Phew, they better be prepared fer a lot of anger. Ah don't know what Ah'd do if Ah met 'em face to face. [a small orange pony trying to be threatening]

They must have some reason. That doesn't make it okay or mean it's a good one, but they're not doing it just to be evil.

Applejack digs her hoof into the ground, considering. if this were back home, it might be possible to reach out to these villains. but she doesn't know how that would play out here. she doesn't even have her Element of Honesty] We can always think on it later, after we've gathered s'more clues. For now, all we can do is look around.

Silver said they've been giving them some of their powers and things back. Maybe some of them can come help later.

Ah heard that, too. Ah sure hope so. [she rubs the back of her neck] Goodness, it's so unlike me t'be this down in the dumps, an' Ah'm sorry. Ah'm just really confused right now, is all. If this were Equestria...

It's okay. It's hard to be in a different world with different kinds of people. I felt like that at first when I met all the monsters.

[deciderly]

[AJ really feels lost. she can't make herself useful because she is a pony and... ponies didn't work here. so what was she supposed to do? parade around as a dog the whole time? she sighs] Oh, well. Just gotta try an' stay positive. Ah'll check in with you again real soon, all right, sugarcube?
