RIVALRY BETWEEN JUNKYARD CARNIVAL AND NUCLEAR PARLIAMENT MORE INTENSE THAN ANY OF US COULD HAVE EXPECTED!

FIGHT BETWEEN LEADS CAUGHT BY INTREPID REPORTERS

by Miles Jackson

When industry insiders tipped PunkRiot off to Virgo's search for an answer to our favorite Junkyard Carnival, we expected there to be tensions. Any band built to counter another is going to feel the pressure to prove itself, and the addition of Shotaru Hidari's country flair was questioned by many. But none of us could have predicted that the flare-up would happen so suddenly — or so powerfully. Sources behind the scenes of the South Vista Music Fest, where Pride and Virgo often debut their new talent, reported that Nuclear Parliament bassist and lead vocalist Johanna Mason was overheard in a confrontation with Junkyard lead Luci.

"They were really going at it," our source reported. "Not like, a shouting match, but that intense low-voice thing people do when they know they're at the top. It was scary, I thought they were gonna kill each other. I think Luci came out on top, though," he added, a result which doesn't surprise yours truly.

Faithful readers will of course be aware of our stance on Virgo's "answer", but surprisingly the numbers have stayed relatively even so far, a fact I'm sure must keep at least a few people biting their nails as they keep their eyes on the charts. Nuclear Parliament is fighting hard to unseat the current monarchs of the punk circuit, and Junkyard won't be able to sit on their laurels or they'll come tumbling down the mountain. Avid fans will remember the shocking reshuffle which brought Fetch Walker into the fold after Princess Sonozaki was suddenly dropped, and while Nuclear Parliament was assembled from whole cloth, it's often easier to create a groove from nothing than it is to integrate a stranger into an already existing one. This reporter's stance is clear, as always, but times ahead promise to be interesting for punk.

(Sharp eyes will note that Pride and Pride subsidiaries often buy ad space on PunkRiot. Make of this what you will, because nobody from the site will comment on it, even if asked.)
