STEAM PUNK OR STEAM YUCK?

"Dr. Sawbones," that name upon reading it, and even saying it aloud, is something that might make you cringe. Not because it’s actually scary, but because it sounds like something that a seven-year-old might name the monster under his bed.

And that is exactly the image Kiernan "Sariel" MacLeod is now putting forth on stage. While this journalist never was fond of his “Watcher Angel” nonsense, rather hoping he’d leave that to actual angels, this is most certainly a step DOWN not a step up or even a step in the right direction.

While everyone is certainly entitled to changing their names and how they present themselves to the world at large, one has to wonder why this change is really happening! Sariel claimed it was from a dream of lab coats and surgery, but where others might take that as a sign to go get professional help, not the vocalist from Crown of Thorns.

But this isn't the first time some of the band members have changed their persona. While Tamara- excuse us - Aramat’s was just making a mirror image of her name with no actual sign of change in her music or talent, this journalist has to wonder if we can expect more "sudden persona revelations" from Crown of Thorns?

Is the band doing this to distract us from something else? Or is there a much more pressing issue at large? Rather than rely on their music, are they starting to rely on gimmicks? Is the band losing its edge and is left to scramble to stay in the lime light with the WORLD TOUR just recently announced?

Who can say! We at the 'Sun' will be keeping a close eye on the band and on (again, we apologize for making you cringe) 'Dr. Sawbones.'
