HUE AND CRY FOR HEILIG?: The Disturbing Truth Behind Hue and Cry's Hair Colors
By: M. Fox
Virgo's own Hue & Cry got a dynamic shake up by adding 3 new members to the band recently. It's a roster change that not only made the folk/indie band all male, but a disturbing amount of the band members are fair haired and of European origin. The only exception seems to be Kaoru, and he is both a redhead and Asian. (We personally think it's dye and it's only a matter of time that he goes blond with the rest of Hue and Cry.) Is it merely a coincidence? A show of comradery in the band? Was it forced by Virgo? Or is the band affiliated with Izan ideals?
It may sound far-fetched, but folk music is quickly gaining traction among Neo-Izan followers. "People within the group want more variety than the typical baldhead bands. There are folk music for Izan's, pop music for Izan's, even rap for Izan's." Christine Suarez, a gang expert comments. "They no longer are obvious-looking bigots in cities like Vista, they can be any old person at the local cafe listening to their mp3 player."
As for actual proof the band has ties to Izanism, look no further than a leaked jam session that's been circulating around the fandom. The jam session contains covers of songs such as 'Praise Myself' and 'Springtime for Heilig' which contains tons of references to Izanism and Heilig himself. Some fans defend the band, saying that it was done as a joke. But others aren't convinced. "This is not acceptable,Izanism isn't acceptable, even if you joke about it." Nadia Blair, a former H&C fan tells us. "It's already enough they basically became a folk boy-band, but this is just plain disgusting."
Yet, the band is still a hit and the new line up is gaining fans that normally wouldn't listen to folk music. Would it be a prime opportunity to brainwash the new fans with imagery and lyrics? Only time can tell.
