VISTA CITY - A performance by pop group Flashstep on Wednesday afternoon ended in a violent altercation between two audience members.

Witnesses state that Robert Miller, 23, assaulted Jason Lu, 39, near the end of the band's appearance at the El Dorado outdoor cafe. Miller was allegedly loud and disruptive during earlier portions of the performance, but had had no previous interaction with Lu, who was attending the performance with his daughter and her friends.

When Lu tried to repel Miller, Miller allegedly began describing a sexual act he wished to perform upon Lu. Lu instructed Miller to refrain from using explicit speech in front of his daughter and then punched him, witnesses say.

"He said, 'I'm gonna choke on your [redacted]' and was real, y'know, forceful about it," says Barbara Thompson, 46, who was also in attendance. "[Lu] says, like, 'Don't talk like that in front of the kids,' and then he punched him and he, the other guy [Miller], went down. Well, I mean, for lack of a better word."

"[Miller] was being super rude during the concert," said Tanesha Williams, 12. "He was like yelling stuff like 'You suck! Go home! Your music sucks!' and being like a huge jerk."

Miller was taken into custody by Vista City police, who reported that he seemed disoriented and claimed to have no motive behind his actions.

"It seemed like the right thing to do at the time," Miller is reported to have said.

[Jamie takes the plate and just sort of clutches it for a moment or two, as though the act of doing so will protect him from B's scrutiny.]

[Yes good that is certainly convincing. Jamie sets the serving plate down and takes a piece of toast which he begins aggressively eating.]

[B raises an eyebrow. Then he leans over and tries to grab for Jamie's phone, not actually trying to take it so much as just see how Jamie reacts.]

What're you reading on there, huh?

[Jamie's reaction is more or less the real-life verbal equivalent of keysmash as he simultaneously chokes on his toast and swats at B's encroaching hand.]

Dude nothing important what the hell -

[He slaps both hands down on his phone to protect it and stares frantically at his bandmate. He may or may not have pinned B's hand, too, in his desperate flailing.]

[Well look at that, he can't really take his hand off the phone now. He grins.]

What, you in trouble with someone?

[Is he? Is he in trouble with someone? Jamie has no idea. This is terrifying.]

No!

...maybe?...I don't know!

[That last part comes out kind of high and plaintive.]

[B's grin drops into a frown, and he relaxes a little, pulling his hand back from the phone... if Jamie will let him, anyway.]

Okay, seriously, man, is something up?

[Jamie looks extremely conflicted. He chews his lip, drums his fingers on the table, tilts his head back while making agonized noises, and finally runs a hand over his face before surrendering his phone to B. Then he just kind of slumps in his seat and mutters:]

...I think I did that.

[Referring, obviously, to the clusterfuck mentioned in the news story.]

[He takes the phone and reads over the article. Then he looks at Jamie. Then back to the phone.]

...How?

[Please explain, Jamie.]

[Jamie glances around for signs of...well, who knows what, really, before straightening up so he can lean over the table to talk in an undertone.]

I don't...really know, okay? I - look, you remember that guy in the audience yesterday, right? How he was yelling and shit the whole time we were performing? Well towards the end I got sick of it and -

[He shoots a look over his shoulder again, looking almost guilty.]

- and I thought, y'know, "dude, shut the fuck up, choke on a dick", like I was thinking at him really hard - [Jamie makes waggly finger motions around his head.] - and then - that fucking happened! [He waves agitatedly at the phone.] I mean shit, it could just be a coincidence, but it'd be a fucking huge coincidence,, right?

[Jamie's voice drops even more.] And after that - that shit last month with Virgo, I don't - I mean, fuck, don't you think it's just...kinda...

[He finally trails off, looking confused and kind of upset, like he has no idea what to make of this. Truthfully, he doesn't.]

[killerbeep]

[B nods slowly as Jamie starts explaining... then looks slowly more alarmed as he goes on.]

Are... are you sure? I mean... [Okay he can't really think of an argument. Between the whole mess with Virgo, and the weird memory crap, and... so much that's been going on lately, honestly, he's not totally sure how to refute that.]

...Yeah that's pretty weird.

"Pretty weird"?! This is freaky! Who even does shit like this? Except that - fuckin' - Naomi Rivers, and look what happened to her!

[He's looking increasingly upset by this, justifiably or not.] Dude, what does this even mean? What the fuck is going on?

Ah... right. But, I mean, it should be fine as long as you don't try to get anyone killed, right? [Very reassuring, B.

He does make an effort to calm Jamie down, though.] Hey, alright - I gotta admit, I have no idea, about this or any of the weird shit that's been going on. But we're gonna figure it out! Might take some time, is all.
