ARE WEDDING BELLS IN THE AIR FOR FoB LEAD AND VIRGO CEO?

It looks like it’s not just her fans that are falling head over heels for Flower Over Bones’ matronly co-lead and bassist, Luce! Could rumors be true that this latest star has caught the eye of Virgo Entertainment’s Edward Blanche for more than just her musical talent?

FoB made a stunning first appearance a few months ago in the summer, with fans gushing about the band’s unique sound for classical-pop and critics shaking their heads with proclamations that the band didn’t know what their genre was. Regardless, FoB was a success no one could deny. Part of that popularity has sprung from the familial dynamic of the band itself, with some joking that Luce and “Doctor”, the band’s oldest members and co-leads, act as the parents. “Bandmom” and “Banddad” have become popular nicknames in the fandom. However, both musicians have denied any romantic feeling between them. This was hotly debated in many publications and on social media of all sorts.

Yet at the Vista Music Industry Awards Gala, an intriguing development occurred.

It’s no secret that Lesedi Santiago and Edward Blanche, the CEOs of Pride Records and Virgo Entertainment respectively, have been at a sometimes shockingly point of contention for many years now. The most recent outburst of this was the already well covered dispute at a fall awards ceremony that ended up Santiago tossing Blanche’s wine in his face. The point of interest in this story is not the conflict between leaders, but in the aftermath. Several reliable sources have claimed to have seen Luce tending to Blanche’s bruised ego after the fact.

“The girl’s barely a Virgo fledgling, and she’s already up in his grill, touching his face and all that,” said one eye witness. “Edward Blanche is not exactly the most touchy man around, so to get away with that action there must be something going on.”

Luce reportedly left Blanche with her handkerchief after the fact. He was later seen leaving the party with it securely in hand.

After that excitement fueled night, however, things went silent. As is his habit, Edward Blanche has once again secluded himself away from the world of fame to become the enigma we all know him as. In comparison, there isn’t a second that Luce hasn’t been in the spotlight: various concerts, winning the first annual BassOff, and showing up to charity events. Would there be any time in these celebrities’ busy lives for a secret romantic rendezvous? According to one trusted source, absolutely. It’s been reported that Luce has been seen taking the elevator up to Blanche’s office floor, a privilege that few have been granted. Just what could be going on behind closed office doors? Is it possible that a new ring which has been seen on the bassist’s finger could be a symbol of an announcement coming soon? Is a matching one on Blanche’s own hand? Time will tell.

The same day this tabloid is published Angel waves Luce into one of the practice rooms at the penthouse. Doctor is all ready sitting in one of the chairs there, wiggling in his seat like a child who needs to use the restroom. The instant he sees Angel enter again he opens his mouth to speak but Angel shakes her head.

"You're a leader of this band. This concerns you too," Angel states. Doctor crosses his arms and stays seated. Angel closes the door behind Luce and grabs the tabloid paper from off the table where Doctor's notes are scattered. She holds it out for Luce to take.

This definitely isn't how she planned to start her day, but, well. Luce supposes she'll take it.

Accepting the tabloid with a hum, she skims over it. "Oh, so handkerchiefs are the new engagement rings? It makes sense then that I'd be the one to propose. Edward really never will, he's too shy." She hands it back with a laugh. "I'm teasing, dear." If that's Doctor or Angel she means is unclear.

"I think you should make an online statement dismissing these rumors," Angel says, "Tabloids may attract skepticism but word of mouth will still spread the rumors. Mr. Blanche's staff hasn't said anything yet but I want to get rid of this before I get a phone call."

Doctor stares back and forth between the ladies with his lips pressed shut.

"I think that'd just stir up the rumor mill more if I actually acknowledged it..." Not to mention Luce thinks she'd just tease the idea, because it's amusing. Tapping her lip, she shakes her head.

"What do you think, Doctor? Since you've been dragged into the drama of my love life as well, it seems."

Doctor's eyes go wide as the ladies turn to look at him. He sputters at first. "M-Me? Oh!" He wrings his hands. "I think that- I think that you may have a point. I mean- Luce. Sorry Angel. Luce may have a point about acknowledging things being dangerous. Plenty of people dismiss tabloids as completely false."

Angel taps her chin. "Possibly... Luce, what really are you intentions towards Mr. Blanche?"

Being agreed with has Luce beaming. Doctor has basically guaranteed his favorite food being made later at some point in the near future. When she's turned to, Luce chuckles.

"At worst, I'm teasing him. I mean, I'd like to make some sort of connection- for the good of the band- but I'm not pursuing him in any sort of romantic way."

She's dating Koumei anyway, although that little secret she'll keep stored away.

Angel doesn't look any happier but she nods her head. "I'll tell Mr. Blanche's assistants if they call me. Thank you for clearing that up."

Doctor looks between the two of them eagerly, hoping the subject was settled. That had just been a whole lot less trouble than he had thought it would be.

"Well, I wouldn't want there to be any trouble for you." Luce shakes her head fondly. "Goodness knows we do it enough with how much food we get for Pao-Lin or the half hour we regularly spend each day to find Ivan."

She glances back between the two of them. "So that's that, then?"

Doctor very slowly begins to nod his head in agreement, eyes fixed on Angel.

"Just be careful Luce. The media isn't kind. I don't believe Mr. Blanche is ready to be removed from his top spot on the most eligible bachelors list." Angel says as she takes her phone from her pocket. Doctor looks like he's going to start cheering when she stands up to head for the door. "Still to be fair I think he appreciates your... demeanor in one way or another. If Mr. Blanche decides he wants to spend time with you then I certainly won't get in your way."

"I'm a saint, you know I'd never ruin his good honor." Luce waves as Angel makes for the exit, winking over at Doctor. "Sorry for getting you all stressed out, dear."

The second the door closes behind Angel Doctor gives such a large sigh of relief that his posture deflates with it.

"Angel's a little scary when she's mad. I definitely like friendly angel more. Happy Angel. Not Mad Angel. Not Unhappy Surprised Angel. Not Sad Crying Angel." He give a pause, staring at the floor.

Then comes back.

"Is it true then? No sort of feelings of attraction at all to Mr. Blanche?" he asks.

"Oh, I agree there." Luce sighs, shaking her head and staring at the door as well. You never know- after an event like that, who's to say she's not listening in or something silly? "Poor dear holds grudges, too. Not good for her health."

Doctor's little lapse of thought is brushed off, because they're all tired, and he's always been an odd duck. His question makes her laugh.

"Oh, no. Maybe it will change in the future, but I'm afraid besides his impeccable manners in returning a lady's handkerchief, he's not to my tastes." She tilts her head with a smile.

"Besides, I'm dating someone already."

Doctor straightens like a surprised deer at her words. "You're dating someone? Since when? Why haven't I heard about this before?" First Rei now Luce. Who next? "Really as much as we share, I know nothing about my band's love lives. Why is that?"

"Because we don't tell you, Doctor," is the simple answer. Luce goes to take a seat herself, pleased thus far. "Besides, I was waiting to see if it would last longer than a month before actually calling him my boyfriend. No use jumping the gun, hm?"

"I understand that part. But am I the last one here to know? Do I just have a face that nobody wants to talk about their boyfriends to?" Doctor whines, scrunching up his face. "I can't imagine the rest of you would like it much if I suddenly announced that I was with someone. Surprise! I'm married!"

Reaching over, she flicks a bit of his hair. "I haven't told anyone else, silly, so you're not the last to know. I'm going about things in my own time. Besides, I think dating lives and marriage are two different horses, Doctor."

"Oh." Doctor sits up straight and smiles at her. "Well then. I hope you two are happy and I'm here for you either way." He claps his hands together and crosses his fingers, wiggling them. "I'll let you know if I get a girlfriend." Something about that word sounds foreign coming out of Doctor's mouth, though he likely doesn't hear it that way.

For some reason, that's an odd thought, Doctor with a girlfriend, but she still grins a bit. "It's not a race, so don't feel obliged to go chasing after us in this area. Besides, music first, isn't that right?"

"Yes of course! Can you imagine that? Me running away from my music career with some woman? That wouldn't be very responsible," he jokes.

"Rei and I would hunt you down if you tried it, dear." Grinning, she reaches over to flick his ear lightly. Nothing too mean. "We need our 'big violin' in the band."

"Well I wouldn't come running back into your arms if you called it a 'big violin' even if I did change my mind," he says with a crooked grin.

Luce laughs again. "You don't have to come running, we'll just come and find you instead. Lasso you and drag you back." Although now that sounds almost like a potential album cover...

"It does! Send the marketing department an email about that. It would be fun to shoot that!" He gasps realizing, "We could wear cowboy hats!"
