BILL MANIA

FANATIC FANS GOING TOO FAR?

ANA TROIS

[insert picture of a trio of girls here, all dressed similarly to Bill Cipher, complete with eyepatches. they're in what looks like to be one of their rooms, which is fully decked out / decorated in various ViP and Cipher merch.]

Obsessed fans are nothing new, especially not among young teenagers. But while most tend towards perky pop and the ever-popular emo, there's a group who are dedicated to a genre most would think is more suited towards their parents. The sound of Vandalism in Progress seems to have crossed the generation gap, reaching for all ages - but is that necessarily a good thing?

Their talent can hardly be denied, much less the skill of their saxist, Bill Cipher - a fellow known just as much if not more for his quirks as his musical ability. And that has drawn him a number of fans who seem more interested in his mysteries than his sound. In itself, there's nothing wrong with that - but many parents have expressed concerns over those very mysteries.

"My daughter's said she wishes she only had one eye so she could be more like him," claims one mother who wished to remain anonymous. "I browsed her internet history, I saw her looking up ways to get them removed!"

"He's a bad influence," another father mentions, shaking his head in disapproval. "I won't have it in my house, and I don't understand why she's so insistent on bringing it in. The music I can appreciate, but his gimmicks...!"

Cipher himself was unavailable for comment, but the manager of Vandalism in Progress had her own words to say; "Of course we care about the health of our young fans. They and everyone else should remember that the members of ViP are entertainment professionals; they know what they're doing." When asked if she knew what they were doing, she could only say, "that's my job, isn't it?"
